American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PreOp/PACU position at an outpatient surgical pavilion, requiring at least 1 year of experience and an active SC or compact RN license.

Details

• Outpatient surgical pavilion setting with 20 pre/post bays, 2 ORs, 2 GI procedural rooms, and 1 VIR procedural room
• Patient population includes orthopedic (total joints, arthroscopy, hand, shoulder, and elbow cases), Interventional Radiology (VIR), and GI (upper and lower scopes) cases
• Unit team consists of 10 RNs and 1 PCT
• Day shift schedule: 4x10-hour shifts, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
• No weekends, no on-call, no nights, and no major holidays
• Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
• EMR: Epic (experience preferred)

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or multi-state compact RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS and ACLS
• Minimum 1 year of PreOp/PACU RN experience required
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate; local candidates within 60 miles may be considered at a reduced rate

Additional Information

• PreOp responsibilities include reviewing patient history, reconciling home medications, obtaining vital signs and EKGs, starting IVs, performing fingerstick blood glucose checks, and administering IV fluids, antibiotics, and pre-op medications as ordered
• PACU responsibilities include monitoring vital signs through all phases of post-anesthesia care and managing patient discharge, including wheelchair transport to vehicle
• Works closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and OR nurses in a fast-paced environment
• Orientation modules are completed prior to the start date
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
• All RTO requests must be submitted upfront; requests for excessive time off within the contract period may be denied
