American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU/Surgical Short Stay Observation position requiring a SC or Compact RN license and at least 2 years of experience, working night shifts Monday through Thursday.

Details

• Six-bay, 23-hour observation unit located inside a surgery center PACU within a large clinic
• Patient population includes Orthopedics (total joints, arthroscopy, hand, shoulder & elbow cases), Interventional Radiology (VIR), and GI (upper and lower scopes)
• Typical staffing model is two RNs and one PCT per shift, with a possible 1-RN/1-PCT model on some nights
• Patient ratio is 1:3 (expected), with a maximum of 1:6
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM, Monday through Thursday (facility is closed Fridays)
• No weekend or holiday requirements
• No on-call responsibilities
• May float to another observation unit (days shift) or be called off during low census
• EMR: Epic (experience preferred)

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS and ACLS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• SSN and driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Additional Information

• Works closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and OR nurses to deliver safe, effective patient care in a fast-paced pre/post-surgical environment
• Building security is present overnight and moves to the surgery center waiting room after the clinic closes at approximately 8:00 PM
• Online orientation modules must be completed prior to the assignment start date
• Candidates who were previously employed (including PRN) at this health system must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
• All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed upfront; approval is based on facility needs
• Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) are accepted on a case-by-case basis; non-local candidates are prioritized
