American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU) position at a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center, requiring Swan-Ganz monitoring proficiency and every-other-weekend availability on night shifts.

Details

• High-acuity Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU) setting within a large Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center with 1,500+ beds
• Patient ratio of 1:2 on both day and night shifts
• Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to other Heart and Vascular Center (HVC) ICUs as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Charting system: Epic (experience required)
• Block scheduling is not available for this position

Requirements

• Active CT RN license (or compact equivalent) required; pending license accepted — allow 15–21 business days for CT license issuance
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; CCRN preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; candidates with 1.5 years may be considered with Level I trauma or travel experience
• Cardiothoracic ICU and/or critical care experience required
• Proficiency with Swan-Ganz/Pulmonary Artery Line monitoring required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Trauma center experience at a large facility required; Level I trauma experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Key clinical skills include: ventilator management, arterial line management, cardiac drip titration, vasoactive drip titration, post cardiac surgery care, CABG, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, epicardial pacing wire management, CVP monitoring, continuous IV sedation and paralytics, and interpretation of ABGs and dysrhythmias
• Candidates must not have any priors on their nursing license

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include managing complex cardiothoracic surgical patients, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, managing ventilated patients, and performing advanced hemodynamic monitoring
• First-time travelers are welcome with qualifying cardiothoracic ICU and/or critical care experience
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
• RTO exceeding 7 days requires facility approval
• 1 professional reference required for consideration
• Flu vaccination is required; declinations are not accepted
