American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) travel assignment in New Mexico, requiring at least 2 years of telemetry/PCU experience and prior completion of at least one 13-week travel assignment.

Details

• Position is in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within an inpatient hospital setting
• Telemetry and progressive care patient population in an 18-plus bed unit
• 12-hour night shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
• Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required
• Epic EMR experience is preferred

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS — must be obtained through the American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
• Preferred certification: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum of 2 years of current experience in an 18-plus bed telemetry/progressive care unit required
• At least one completed 13-week travel assignment required — first-time travelers will not be considered
• ADN or ASN degree required
• Must be a team player, flexible, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Provides direct patient care using the nursing process, including assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs
• Coordinates care through collaboration with patients, families, and the broader healthcare team
• Assumes clinical supervision responsibilities for LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel
• Identifies and addresses patient and family learning and discharge needs throughout the episode of care
• Candidates must pass an on-site Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test before starting the assignment — this is administered on the first day of orientation
• Candidates who fail the BCA test will have one opportunity to retest; a second failure will result in termination of the assignment
• Former permanent employees of this health system must wait one year before being considered as a travel nurse
