Description

American Traveler is seeking a Chemo Certified RN for a Med/Surg-Oncology unit, requiring at least 2 years of inpatient nursing experience and active NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in an inpatient Med/Surg-Oncology unit caring for patients with general medical-surgical and oncology diagnoses
• Night shift schedule with shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• Every other weekend is required
• Ratios are typically 1:6 but may increase during high census periods
• Floating required to similar units and alternative care locations, including inpatient holding in the ED
• Required to work call if called off on a prescheduled shift
• Expected to work during catastrophic events, disasters, or as part of Storm/Hurricane teams
• Uses Pyxis for medication, Epic for documentation, and SBAR for communication
• Unit provides a 24-hour (2 shift) orientation

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years of inpatient experience, including Med/Surg and oncology care
• Chemo administration certification (ONC) required
• BLS certification required
• Experience in colostomy care, port access, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, PICC management, surgical drains, chest tubes, non-invasive airway management, wound care, and isolation precautions
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Experience with Epic and Pyxis systems
• First-time travelers are accepted

Additional Information

• Responsible for administering chemotherapy and biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection as needed
• Care for patients with conditions such as AKI, sepsis, cancer, malignant neoplasms, ARF, diabetic foot ulcers, and more
• Expected to attend monthly staff meetings
• Scrub color is navy blue and white
• Contract staff may be reassigned mid-contract according to facility needs
• No RTO requests allowed after booking; additional unscheduled absences may result in contract cancellation
