American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Behavioral Health night shift position requiring an active IA or compact RN license, 24 months of recent psych experience, and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Position is in a hospital behavioral health unit with 9 beds
• Patient population includes all ages from adolescents to geriatrics with psychiatric and behavioral health needs
• Nurse-to-patient ratio can be up to 1:9
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts per week, totaling 36 hours per week
• No on-call required and every third weekend and holiday rotation is required
• Uses Epic EMR; prior Epic experience required
• Floating is not specified

Requirements

• Active IA or compact RN license required at the time of consideration
• AHA or ARC BLS certification required
• At least 24 months of recent psychiatric or behavioral health RN experience required
• Previous charge RN experience in a behavioral health setting required
• Experience with patients across all age groups, including adolescents and geriatrics
• De-escalation certificate (MOAB, MAB, CPI, or SAMA) is highly preferred and may be completed during onboarding
• Epic EMR experience required
• Driver’s license required
• Skills checklist for psych/behavioral health is required
• First time travelers must have completed at least one travel contract within the past 24 months
• Work history must reflect 24 months of recent Med Surg, Tele, or Med/Tele experience
• Professional references from a supervisory role within the last 24 months are preferred
• No local candidates within 90 miles of the facility

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include providing psychiatric nursing care and performing charge duties on the unit
• Must be comfortable working with patients exhibiting a variety of behavioral health conditions
• Scrub color requirement is grey
• Required to participate in holiday coverage rotations
• Orientation sessions are available on set dates prior to contract start
• Must be willing to engage in de-escalation techniques for behavioral health settings
