American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Behavioral Health unit working with adult and geriatric psychiatric patients, requiring BLS and CPI certifications and experience with Epic EMR.

Details

• Work in a Behavioral Health inpatient unit at a short-term acute care, Magnet teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center
• Care for adult and geriatric psychiatric patients, including those with co-morbid medical conditions and substance use or chemical dependency
• Patient ratio is 1:6
• Scheduled for 3x12 hour day shifts, including every other weekend
• Floating required within service line to all Behavioral Health units as needed
• Epic charting system used; Epic EMR experience is required
• No on-call required
• Unit handles a variety of diagnoses, including dementia, depression, Parkinson's Disease, bipolar disorder, and anxiety

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license, may be accepted with pending documentation
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient psychiatric nursing experience required
• BLS and CPI certifications required
• Experience with geriatric psychiatric care, medical/psych nursing, substance use/chemical dependency, and locked unit settings
• Must have skills in medication administration (PO, rectal, IM, IV, SC, etc.), IV start and maintenance, blood glucose monitoring, and Foley catheter insertion/maintenance
• Epic EMR experience required for consideration
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius from the facility
• References may be required from supervisor within the past 2 years

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include medication administration, IV starts, blood glucose monitoring, Foley catheter care, presence in the milieu, and restraint application
• May be assigned as charge nurse as needed
• Some patients may require pre-op preparation for ECT
• Travelers may not request block scheduling
• First-time travelers will be considered following clinical screening
• No more than 7 days of requested time off allowed during the contract; none permitted during the first week of orientation
• Must wear navy scrubs as per dress code
• Permanent employees must wait a minimum of 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Assignments typically last 13 weeks with a possibility to extend, with an 18-month maximum period at the facility before a mandatory 3-month break
