Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of inpatient behavioral health experience, BLS and CPI, for a day shift position on an adult and geriatric psychiatric unit.

Details

• Work in an inpatient behavioral health unit at a short-term acute care hospital
• Adult and geriatric psychiatric patient population, including those with dementia, depression, Parkinson's, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and medical co-morbidities
• Typical patient ratio is 1:6
• Day shifts, 3x12 hours from 7:00 to 19:30
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating within the service line to all behavioral health units may be required
• Must administer medications via multiple routes and perform IV starts, blood glucose monitoring, and Foley catheter management
• Epic EMR is used and experience is required
• Facility requires navy scrubs

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending license may be accepted
• Minimum of 1 year inpatient behavioral health nursing experience required
• BLS and CPI certifications required
• Experience working with adult and geriatric psychiatric patients, including those with medical co-morbidities
• Epic EMR experience required
• Demonstrated skill in medication administration, IV starts, and psychiatric care tasks

Additional Information

• Will work as charge nurse as needed
• Must remain present in the milieu and may need to apply restraints as part of patient care
• May assist with pre-op preparation for ECT
• RTO requests are limited to 7 days per 13-week contract and are not allowed during the first week of orientation
• First-time travelers accepted at manager's discretion following clinical screening
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Candidates must reside outside of a 75-mile radius from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Travelers may stay for up to 18 months with a 3-month break required after that period
• Travelers are paid for up to 16 hours of pre-start module completion during orientation
