American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Behavioral Health unit working day shifts with adult and geriatric psychiatric patients, requiring BLS and CPI certification.

Details

• 13-week contract in a short-term acute care hospital setting
• Work in a locked inpatient Behavioral Health unit
• Primarily care for adult and geriatric psychiatric patients with some medical comorbidities
• Census includes conditions such as dementia, depression, Parkinson's Disease, bipolar disorder, and anxiety
• Patient ratio is 1:6
• Shift is 3x12 hour days (7:00-19:30) with every other weekend required
• Floating required within service line and to all Behavioral Health units
• Uses Epic EMR; Epic experience required
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required
• BLS and CPI certifications required
• Minimum 1-2 years of inpatient behavioral health RN experience required
• Experience with geriatric population, substance use/chemical dependency, and medical/psych nursing
• Skills including medication administration via various routes, blood glucose monitoring, IV start and maintenance, and Foley catheter management required
• Experience with Epic charting system required
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius from the facility
• Pending MO license accepted for consideration

Additional Information

• Will administer medications, start and maintain IVs, monitor blood glucose, and manage Foley catheters
• Will care for patients requiring medical/surgical approach alongside psychiatric care
• Involvement in pre-op preparation for ECT, presence in milieu, and application of restraints as needed
• May be assigned charge nurse duties as needed
• Scrub color is navy
• First time travelers may be considered following a clinical screen
• Returning permanent employees must wait one year before reapplying as a traveler
• No more than 7 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week contract; no time off permitted during orientation
• Travelers can remain up to 18 months with a required 3-month break thereafter
• Paid training modules are completed during pre-start orientation
• Monthly parking passes available through facility public safety
