American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring at least 18 months of PCU experience and a valid NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a hospital PCU with 20 beds, including 3 progressive care beds
• Patient population includes post-surgical cases such as HPB surgeries, women's surgeries, and plastic surgery recoveries
• RN-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4-6, with surges up to 1:7-8
• Uses Epic EMR, with Epic experience preferred
• Shift is 12-hour nights (1845-0715) on a 6-week schedule cycle
• Weekend rotation is every other weekend
• Required to work 75% of holidays
• Floating may be required within the region and scope of practice, including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division facilities

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of PCU experience required, with recent experience preferred
• Drain care, central line management, G/J tube care, heparin and cardiac gtt management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and NGT placement/management skills required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB for consideration
• At least one professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the last year required
• Returning employees must have at least a 1-year separation from any previous permanent position with the health system
• Candidates' permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include monitoring post-surgical patients, performing specialized procedures, and managing various surgical drains
• Support is provided by CNAs, charge nurses, IV/VAT team, and resource nurses, with mentors available on night shift
• Unit equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell, Phillips monitors, bladder scanner, EKG machine, and patient safety net technology
• Department emphasizes strong teamwork and a supportive culture
• Orientation includes new employee orientation and two days of departmental training
• Scrub color is navy
• Parking is provided free of charge
• RTO can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays, with missed contracted hours to be added to the end of the contract
• Not preferred, but first-time travelers may be considered
