American Traveler is seeking a Neuro PCU RN with EPIC experience, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications, and strong skills in cardiac monitoring and neuro patient care.

Details

• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with adult neurological patients
• Day shift schedule: 3x12s, 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.
• Patient ratios typically 1:4–5, with some 1:5 assignments possible
• Includes care for patients requiring continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring
• Patient population includes neurosurgical recovery, stroke, other neuro diagnoses, and medical overflow
• Required to float to units within clinical skillset as needed
• Uses EPIC EMR; prior experience required
• Weekend work required; either every other weekend or six weekend shifts in a six-week block
• Must work one holiday during each 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted for single-state RN from a non-compact state)
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Prior experience with cardiac monitoring, rapid response, emergency code management, and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Experience in medication administration and non-titrating cardiac drips
• Skills in respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience using EPIC EMR required
• Must be comfortable with patient ratios up to 1:5

• Care responsibilities include neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, and medical overflow patient support
• Unit includes five beds dedicated to continuous epilepsy monitoring
• Travelers required to follow isolation precautions and participate in Rapid Response as needed
• First-time travelers are accepted for this role
• Locals are accepted; a radius rule applies
• All requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted up front
• Holiday coverage required for one holiday during the assignment
• Facility may call off up to one shift every two weeks
