American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Stepdown position in Illinois requiring an active IL RN license and pediatric vents, trach, and G-tube experience.

Details

• Work in a 39-bed Pediatric Stepdown inpatient unit with a variety of specialties
• Patient population consists of children ages 2 weeks to 18 years, many with chronic conditions and technology dependence
• Common care includes ventilators, tracheostomies, and feeding tubes
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:3-4
• Both 3x12 and 4x12 night shifts are available
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling may be accommodated
• Uses Meditech for charting and documentation
• Free parking is available on site

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand at the time of consideration; compact licenses not accepted in Illinois
• Minimum of 2 years of pediatric nursing experience required
• BCLS and PALS certifications required
• Experience caring for patients with ventilators, tracheostomies, and G tubes required
• Experience with 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio required
• Previous experience with Meditech charting system is required
• Flu vaccination is required; medical and religious exemptions are accepted
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role

• Focus on caring for children with chronic illnesses requiring technological support
• Patients are not on drips, surgical, or transitional status
• Scrubs of any color are acceptable; pediatric-themed scrubs encouraged; neat and clean appearance required
• Locals are accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
• All requested time off must be approved and included in the contract prior to the start date
• Parking is shared with the public as the facility is located on a public park
