American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a long-term care/post-acute setting with elderly patient expertise and every other weekend shifts.

Details

• Position is in a long-term care/skilled nursing unit attached to a hospital
• Care setting focuses on elderly residents, dementia care, and rehabilitation
• Unit has 70 residents, majority in private rooms
• Nurse to resident ratio is 1:20; CNA ratio is 1:8
• Responsibilities include administering IVs, catheter care, ostomy care, and other clinical skills
• Uses ECS charting system
• 12-hour shifts, with every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• Block scheduling offered, with a team of nurses and aides on each shift
• Floating to other units may be required
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience
• Experience working with elderly patient populations is mandatory
• Two professional references required: one from a supervisor and one from a peer or supervisor

Additional Information

• Duties include assessments, charting, medication administration, and charge responsibilities
• Works within an interdisciplinary team including therapy, administration, social work, dietary, and housekeeping
• Physician available after hours and respiratory therapy is onsite 24/7
• Must be available for at least half of holidays during the assignment
• Dress code requires any solid color, clean, and professional scrubs
• Unit-specific orientation provided based on skills
• Former permanent staff must have been gone at least 6 months prior to consideration
• Local candidates within 80 miles are accepted, with a pay rate adjustment
