American Traveler is seeking an RN with Epic experience for a correctional medical-surgical/PCU unit assignment with oncology-related patient care in a secure environment.

Details

• Work in a locked corrections unit serving a prison population
• Assignment involves both PCU and Medical-Surgical units, floating as needed
• Patient population includes oncology and non-oncology cases, such as solid tumors, hematology, and general medical diagnoses
• Nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 for PCU and 1:4-5 for Med/Surg
• Secure setting with access controlled by corrections officers
• Uses EPIC for documentation and Pyxis for medication administration
• Day (7:00-19:30) and night (19:00-7:30) 12-hour shifts available
• Weekend shifts vary by unit requirements

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Experience with Epic charting required
• Medical-surgical and telemetry experience required
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Competency in dysrhythmia interpretation, telemetry monitoring, and emergency response
• Experience with IV therapy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, and tracheostomy care

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include delivering nursing care to incarcerated individuals with both oncology and complex medical needs
• Float between PCU and Med/Surg units and adapt to patient assignment changes
• Provide care in a high-security environment with corrections officer support
• Work with a multi-disciplinary team including pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory services, and rapid response teams
• Appropriate for candidates comfortable working in locked and secure units
• No prior break required between assignments except for sterile processing techs
