American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Orthopedics RN with Level 1 Trauma and Epic charting experience for a day shift contract in Illinois.

Details

• Work in an inpatient orthopedic unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes orthopedic and general med/surg cases
• Shift is 12 hours, days, 7:00AM - 7:30PM, three shifts per week
• Uses Epic EMR system; Epic experience is required
• Unit cares for post-op orthopedic patients implementing specialized procedures such as wound care, mobility, and use of ortho traction devices
• No local candidates accepted; must live more than 50 miles from facility

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing; temporary license accepted
• Minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience, including Level 1 Trauma experience
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Associate's degree in nursing required; BSN preferred
• Proficiency in English required (speak, read, write)
• Epic charting experience required for consideration

Additional Information

• Assess and educate patients on wound care, mobility, medication management, and self-care needs
• Coordinate care with physicians and surgical teams for orthopedic and med/surg patients
• Manage wound appliances including wound vacs, drains, and other devices
• Delegate and monitor interventions performed by assistive staff
• Adhere to departmental competencies and annual continuing education, including compliance with DNV Hip and Knee Replacement Program requirements
• No travel partners accepted for this assignment
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off permitted per 13 week contract
• Candidates may not have more than one year of continuous assignment; a 6-month break is required before returning
• Must provide 30 day advance notice to cancel once assignment has started
