American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry/ED Holds position caring for cardiac patients in a trauma level 1 acute care setting with strong tele skills and Arizona or compact RN licensure.

• Position is based in an acute care hospital on the ED Holds/Telemetry unit
• Primary patient population includes ED holds waiting for placement, mainly telemetry cases with some med/surg
• Patient ratio is 1:4
• 60 ED beds in primary facility
• Will be required to titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone
• Nurses must read and interpret cardiac strips; there are no monitor techs in the ED
• No ventilator patients on this unit
• ED PCTs provide additional support
• Uses Cerner EMR; experience preferred
• 12-hour shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a), with 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks
• Required to work 2 of the 4 major holidays during the assignment
• Floating required to med/surg, tele, overflow units, and to other hospitals within the float zone as needed
• No on-call requirement
• Dress code is navy scrubs
• 2 orientation shifts provided to Med/Surg/Tele at primary campus

Requirements

• Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry nursing experience within the past 6 months
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA or APEX accepted)
• Must have strong cardiac telemetry background including experience decreasing cardiac drips per physician's orders
• Must successfully pass a dysrhythmia (Relias) exam within 48 hours of offer, with a maximum of 2 attempts
• Pass/fail SIM lab assessment required on first day of orientation
• Ability to read and interpret tele strips required
• Two professional references: one supervisor from within past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within past 3 years including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
• Copy of valid driver’s license required for consideration
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by CommonSpirit, CHI or Dignity within the last year

Additional Information

• Will care for ED patients boarding while awaiting hospital bed placement, focusing primarily on telemetry care
• May assist with ED patient duties such as vitals, IV starts, and medication administration but will not be the primary RN for ED patient assignments
• Team includes ED charge nurse and PCTs for support
• Must work collaboratively within a trauma level 1 environment
• Holiday coverage will rotate with permanent staff
• First to float among staff as needed
• Navy scrubs are required for all shifts
• Must pass orientation SIM lab on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
