Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical unit with strong telemetry and critical care skills, requiring an active NC or compact license and BCLS certification.

Details

• Work in a Medical Surgical unit with a diverse adult patient population, including dementia, diabetes, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, GI bleed, anemia, and orthopedic cases
• Telemetry experience with remote monitoring required
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6
• 12-hour night shifts, with options for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Required to work 12-16 weekend shifts per contract
• Floating to other units may be required
• Must be available as part of the Storm or Hurricane Team in case of catastrophic events or disasters
• Uses Pyxis for medication and Epic for documentation
• Unit orientation is 24 hours, with a week of hospital orientation required

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years Medical Surgical experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required
• Strong skills required in telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, wound care, central and peripheral line management, phlebotomy, chest tubes, respiratory support systems, and isolation precautions
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Experience with Epic documentation system preferred

• Care for patients with a wide range of medical and surgical diagnoses including isolation for COVID cases
• Assignment may involve consolidation to the Centralized Office and preassignment as needed during emergencies
• First time travelers are accepted
• A maximum of 7 days RTO is allowed; no RTO after booking is permitted
• Navy or white scrubs required
• Must be available for all orientation and training sessions
