Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Long Term Care position in Alaska requiring previous travel experience, current AK RN license, and BLS certification.

Details

• Work in a long term care facility with a total of 40 staffed beds
• Patient ratio is 1:20 in this LTC setting
• Variable scheduling with option of 3x12 or 4x12 shifts on either days (07:00-19:00) or nights (19:00-07:00), based on facility need
• Assignment length is either 13 or 26 weeks, at the traveler's choice
• No on-call requirements
• Occasional floating within scope to meet facility or affiliate needs is required
• Charting is completed using ECS
• Free parking is provided for travelers

Requirements

• Active Alaska RN license in hand is required at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification is required
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience in a long term care setting is required
• Previous travel nursing experience is required
• At least 25 years old if accepting facility-provided vehicle and must provide valid driver's license and proof of insurance
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility's location
• Completion of all required modules prior to start

Additional Information

• Primary responsibilities include delivering nursing care to long term care residents
• Expected to float between all facilities within the state as needed
• Traveler must turn in provided vehicle during any contract time off; vehicle use restricted to a 30-mile radius from the facility
• Must be willing to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• No block scheduling available
• No local candidates are accepted
• Scrub color is flexible—any color is allowed
• Hepatitis B vaccination is required; titers or declinations are not accepted unless medically exempted with documentation
• At least two supervisory references from the past three years in a comparable specialty or setting are required
• Former permanent staff must have a minimum 3-month separation before returning as a traveler
• Assignment contracts cannot exceed one calendar year at the facility and require a 6-month break before returning
