American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Trauma ICU position in a Level 1 Trauma Center with night shifts and a requirement for titration of critical drips.

Details

• Position is in an 18-bed Trauma ICU within an acute care hospital
• Level 1 trauma center serving adults and pediatric patients over 15 years old
• Common cases include major trauma, sepsis, stroke, ARDS, MODS, COPD, and cardiac arrest
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1-2 for ICU and 1:4 for PCU
• 12-hour night shifts with self-scheduling managed by the unit manager
• Four weekend shifts required per six-week schedule period
• Floating required to all inpatient units except Maternity/NICU
• Use of advanced equipment such as Alines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring, IABP, Impella (training provided as needed)
• Centralized Draeger telemetry monitoring system; RNs must read and interpret cardiac strips
• EMR used is Epic; prior Epic experience preferred
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active NE or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum of 2 years recent ICU experience required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Experience with titration of critical care drips such as vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics
• Ability to care for both adult and older adolescent trauma patients
• No license or background record issues
• Must provide a valid driver’s license for address verification and compliance with 50-mile radius rule
• Candidates who have been employed full time, part time, or PRN within the past year at any CommonSpirit facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, are ineligible
• Artificial nails are prohibited for all patient care staff
• Must pass a skills assessment during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
• First-time travelers are not accepted

Additional Information

• RNs are responsible for titrating critical care drips and performing advanced monitoring
• Team includes a charge nurse on each shift and support from nurse aides/patient care techs
• Must wear navy blue scrubs per dress code policy
• Orientation includes two unit-specific shifts and a pass/fail exam on learned skills
• Rapid response to critical events is expected due to the acuity level
• Initial requested time off must be submitted up front and is limited to 7 days per contract; additional time off cannot be approved after submission
