American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Acute Care Float position in New York, requiring an active NY RN license and a minimum of two years of recent acute care nursing experience.

Details

• Position is based in a hospital acute care float pool serving adult patient populations
• Nurses will float to various acute inpatient units, including telemetry, transplant, oncology, surgical, acute rehab, GI/GU, and neurology
• May float to the emergency department to care for admitted patients awaiting beds
• Staffing ratio is 1:5 for days, nights, and weekends
• Night shift schedule with four 12-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Expected to work every other weekend
• No rotating shifts and no holiday shifts required
• Utilizes Alaris and Kangaroo pumps, Stryker beds, Posey alarms, glucometers, and Omnicell systems
• Documentation is completed in EPIC; experience preferred but not required
• Green scrubs are required

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of two years recent acute care experience; one year absolute minimum if not a first-time traveler
• At least two managerial references from supervisors within the last two years required
• Experience with MS/Tele required; telemetry and ER holding preferred
• Ability to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and perform telemetry monitoring
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care/management required
• Must complete an EKG exam upon arrival
• Ability to provide care for respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Isolation precautions experience required
• COVID vaccination required

Additional Information

• Primary responsibilities include caring for adults across a range of acute care settings with potential to float based on facility needs
• Short orientation includes one shift in a skills lab and one shift on the unit
• First-time travelers with over two years of experience may be considered
• Return travelers must have been gone for at least one year before being eligible
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Maximum of five days RTO allowed; no time off permitted within the first two weeks of assignment
• Parking is provided at no fee in the employee garage
