American Traveler is hiring a PCU RN with at least 2 years of telemetry or step-down experience, MO or compact RN license, and ACLS/BLS certifications.

Details

• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a short-term acute care Magnet and Teaching Hospital, Level I Trauma Center
• Typical patient ratios are 1:3-5
• Care for patients with cardiac and critical diagnoses such as CHF, arrhythmias, ACS, heart valve disease, CAD, hypertensive crisis, pacemaker/AICD issues, acute renal failure, LVAD, and post-cardiac surgery
• Perform and assist with specialized procedures including cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker/AICD placement, echocardiograms, various stress testing, cardiac MRI/CT, cardioversion/ablation, carotid Doppler, pulmonary function tests, and anti-arrhythmic drug loading
• Utilize specialized equipment such as LVADs, chest tubes, pericardial drains, and offer arterial pressure monitoring and temporary/permanent cardiac pacing
• Night shift position, working 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Floating will occur within the service line and possibly to affiliate hospitals
• Charting is done using EPIC EMR with required EPIC experience
• Unit is transitioning from high risk cardiology to PCU; comfort with lower acuity patients may be required during transition

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required
• At least 2 years of recent telemetry or step-down experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, management of dysrhythmias, and interpretation required
• Must pass Relias EKG exam prior to start
• EPIC charting experience required
• Cannot accept local candidates residing within a 75-mile radius of the facility
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Permanent employees must wait one year before returning as a traveler to the same health system
• Will accept candidates with pending MO license at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include cardiac telemetry monitoring, managing cardiac drips, tracheostomy care, insulin infusions, and assisting with post-surgical cardiac patients
• Must be able to care for both high and lower acuity cardiac patients as the unit transitions
• Scrub color is navy
• Up to 2 time off requests allowed per contract, max of 40 hours (5 days); no time off permitted during the first week of assignment
• Holiday and weekend coverage required as scheduled
• Must be able to float within the service line as needed
• Facial hair rules apply for fit testing; proper fit required for compliance
• All standard travelers can be assigned for up to 18 months, with a 3 month break required after 18 months
