American Traveler is hiring a RN for a stepdown position on a weekend dayshift in an acute care setting with EPIC experience required.

Details

• Position is on a 29-bed stepdown/med-surg flex unit in an acute care hospital
• Unit serves both stepdown and med-surg patients with primarily medical diagnoses
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 3:1 for stepdown and 6:1 for med-surg assignments
• 12-hour day shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (7:00 am - 7:30 pm)
• Use of telemetry equipment (Phillips) and remote telemetry monitoring center
• Required to titrate various drips including heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, and others
• EPIC is the charting system used on the unit
• CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and ventilator management for stepdown patients
• Expected to float to other floor/stepdown units as needed
• No call or standby requirements

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience
• EPIC experience is required
• Must be comfortable with nurse-patient ratios up to 6:1 on med-surg and 3:1 on stepdown
• Experience titrating IV drips required
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility; no local travelers accepted
• Candidates previously employed at any WVU Medicine location must have a 2-year break before re-applying
• Travelers cannot work at any WVU Medicine facility for more than a year consecutively and must take a 2-year break after

Additional Information

• Unit supported by charge RNs and house supervisors 24/7
• Clinical Associates (CAs) provide additional support, aiming for 3 CAs on shift
• No responsibility for reading telemetry strips; central/remote monitoring is provided
• Royal blue and white scrubs required
• Expected to work about half of all WVUH recognized holidays
• First time travelers are welcome to apply
• Mandatory pass/fail EKG testing may be required for stepdown assignment
