American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position with high-acuity care and both day and night shift requirements.

Details

• Work in a hospital Labor & Delivery unit with 10 L&D beds, 4 OB ED triage beds, and 4 antepartum rooms
• Patient population includes high-risk and low-intervention laboring patients, antepartum, OB triage/ED, postpartum, and infants
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Antepartum 1:3, Inactive Labor 1:2, Active Labor 1:1, Postpartum/Couplet care 1:3
• Involvement in all aspects of perinatal care, including couplets and postpartum assignments throughout the contract
• 12-hour variable shifts (0630/1830), with a mix of days and nights required
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend
• No on-call requirement
• Uses Epic charting system
• Holiday coverage as needed
• Scrub color is cobalt blue and is provided by the hospital

Requirements

• Active SD or compact RN license required
• Completion of a board-approved nursing education program
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience, preferably in a Level 3 or higher L&D unit
• Experience caring for high-acuity labor patients including preeclampsia, preterm labor/delivery, and antepartum patients under 35 weeks gestation
• Epic charting experience is required unless otherwise approved
• Ability to care for couplets and circulate C-sections; competency in IV starts, cervical checks, phlebotomy, magnesium sulfate, blood administration, insulin management, and C-section recovery
• ACLS, certification in inpatient obstetrics, electronic fetal monitoring, or inpatient antepartum experience preferred
• Highly preferred candidates have Level 2 nursery baby experience

Additional Information

• Must be comfortable floating between labor, antepartum, postpartum, and couplet care settings
• Receive four days of orientation with a preceptor (three in L&D, one in postpartum)
• Support staff includes a unit secretary, scrub tech, charge nurse, 24/7 RT, VAT team, OB physician team, and anesthesia/CRNA
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• No local travelers permitted (must live outside a 100-mile radius of the facility)
• Time off requests require manager approval
