American Traveler is seeking an experienced Ortho RN with an active IL license, BLS certification, and minimum 2 years of recent experience for a night shift Med/Surg Orthopedics assignment.

Details

• Position is on the Orthopedics unit within an acute care Level I trauma and Magnet-designated hospital
• 38-bed unit caring for a range of orthopedic medical-surgical patients
• Night shifts with 3x12 or 4x12 hour schedules (18:45-07:15)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to other Med/Surg departments or affiliate hospitals as needed
• Cerner used for charting; Cerner experience preferred

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of application
• Minimum 2 years of recent orthopedic RN experience required
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred (AHA or Red Cross cards only, RQI not accepted)
• Telemetry, IV therapy, and phlebotomy skills required, including PICC line management and starting IVs
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Cerner charting experience and previous travel experience are preferred

Additional Information

• Responsible for all aspects of orthopedic Med/Surg patient care, including telemetry and IV/PICC line management
• Must be able to work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Scrub attire can be any solid color
• Parking permit provided at no cost during orientation
• Must complete online modules and orientation requirements prior to assignment start
• Former permanent or PRN employees must have at least 12 months gap before applying as a traveler
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday time off may be requested; more requires approval
• Team environment in a large, acute care hospital setting
