American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level I trauma, academic medical center requiring NC or compact licensure and strong telemetry skills.

Details

• Work on the 4A Med/Surg Tele unit within a large academic hospital with an average daily census of 8 patients
• Patient population includes general medical cases as well as some cardiac, pneumonia, UTI, chest pain, and fluid overload
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4
• Telemetry monitoring required; RNs must read and interpret cardiac strips
• Every other weekend required
• 75% of holidays required
• Floating may occur to any adult unit or area within RN competencies
• No on-call or call back requirements
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing systems
• Royal blue scrubs are required

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Tele experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency with PCA use, surgical drains, wound care, and telemetry including cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Familiarity with Cardizem/Amiodarone drips preferred or willingness to learn
• Experience with Epic charting preferred
• Experience working in academic, Level I trauma, or teaching hospital environments preferred
• Ability to initiate peripheral IVs

• Primary responsibilities include managing complex medical and cardiac patients and performing telemetry monitoring throughout the shift
• Support is provided by CNAs, unit secretaries, charge RNs, 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist teams
