American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN with oncology experience and a NC or compact RN license for night shifts in an academic medical center.

Details

• Work in a 40-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a cancer center of an academic Level 1 trauma hospital
• Primary patient population includes hematology, oncology, leukemia, symptom management, and end-of-life care
• RN-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4-5 depending on acuity
• CNA support is available with a ratio of 1:9-12
• Night shift schedule is 1900-0700; every other weekend required
• Expected to float first within the cancer center, then to any med-surg unit within the hospital as needed
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensers, Philips monitors, and lift equipment
• Centralized telemetry monitoring is in place; RNs must verify rhythm strips each shift

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required if working Resource Team
• Minimum of 1 year Med/Surg Tele experience required, oncology experience preferred
• ONS or OCN certification preferred
• Proficiency in port access, blood product administration, electrolyte management, EOL care, symptom management, PIV starts, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Epic EMR, Alaris pumps, Omnicell, and Philips monitor experience preferred

• Responsibilities include comprehensive nursing care for oncology and symptom management patients, including pain control and end-of-life care
• Orientation includes NEO and 2 days departmental training
• You will work approximately 75% of holidays
• Free onsite parking is provided
• Royal blue scrubs are required
• First-time travelers are accepted with at least 1 year of experience in specialty
• Team support includes CNA, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT Team on day shift, respiratory therapy 24/7, and hospitalist coverage 24/7
