American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Telemetry position in a Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center, requiring a NC or compact RN license and strong cardiac post-procedural experience.

Details

• Provide care in a 22-bed Progressive Care Unit within a hospital setting
• Typical patient diagnoses include CABG, valve repair or replacement, LVADs, heart transplant, AAA repair, carotids, and thoracic outlet cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3-5 based on acuity
• 12-hour night shifts (1900–0700), with options for 3 or 4 shifts per week
• Every other weekend and 75% holiday coverage required
• Floating within the cardiology division is required, and to any med-surg unit as needed
• Epic is used for EMR; experience preferred
• Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, Philips monitors, and additional unit-specific equipment (Zoll, bladder scanner, USGIV; training available)

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or cardiac specialty experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required if working within the Resource Team
• Cardiology experience with cardiac post-procedural patients including CABG, valve repair/replacement, LVADs, and heart transplant is required
• Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation and titration of cardiac drips
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• PCCN certification preferred

• RNs interpret cardiac strips; telemetry techs are available for monitoring support
• Multidisciplinary team support includes CNAs, a unit secretary, charge nurse, phlebotomy, rapid response team, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists 24/7
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation and 2 days of departmental training
• Royal blue scrubs are required
