American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Acute Leukemia and Hematology oncology position requiring ONS Chemo certification and a minimum of two years nursing experience.

• Position is in an acute oncology unit specializing in leukemia and hematology
• Care is provided for adult and geriatric patients, primarily those with newly diagnosed acute leukemia
• Staffing ratios are typically 1:4, with a potential to be 1:5
• Both day (7:00-19:30) and night (19:00-7:30) shifts available, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Weekends are variable based on unit need
• Self-scheduling requests are considered before the final schedule is set
• Uses Epic for electronic charting; Epic experience is required
• Orientation includes one week of daytime classroom followed by on-unit training with a preceptor
• Heavy emphasis on infection prevention and patient falls prevention

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum two years of nursing experience required
• ONS Chemo Certification required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
• Experience with med/surg and telemetry required
• Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and monitor telemetry
• Proficiency with rapid response teams, feeding tubes, IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, and starting IVs
• Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
• At least two professional references required, including one from a manager, director, or supervisor

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include specialized care for acute leukemia and hematology patients and implementation of infection and fall prevention protocols
• Must have strong skills in central and peripheral line care and rapid response
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• Must provide all requested RTO (requested time off) during initial consideration
• All candidates must comply with fingerprinting requirements as soon as a contract is signed; instructions will be provided
• Local candidates are accepted at the same compensation rate
• Former employees eligible if away from the facility for at least six months; current employees are not eligible
