American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical ICU night shift position requiring ICU and travel experience, Cerner proficiency, and strong critical care skills.

Details

• Work in a 16-bed Medical ICU within an acute care hospital setting
• Patient population includes respiratory, neuro, stroke, GI, cardiac, and high-acuity cases
• Nurse to patient ratio is 1:2, with 1:1 for higher acuity patients
• Role involves frequent titration of all ICU drips including propofol, precedex, and vasopressors
• Uses Cerner EMR, with future transition to Epic; Cerner experience required
• Shift is 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
• Every other weekend and holiday is required, subject to department needs
• Self-scheduling is permitted but block scheduling is not guaranteed
• Floating may be required to similar units or as patient observer; travelers float first
• No call or standby required
• Support from dedicated charge nurse, nurse aide, and 24/7 RT
• RNs are required to interpret their own cardiac rhythms

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience and 1 year of travel nursing experience
• Certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Proficiency with critical care equipment including vents, BiPAP/CPAP, vapotherm, and trachs
• Ability to titrate multiple ICU drips independently
• Two references required: one supervisor within the past year and one peer or supervisor within the last three years
• Former permanent staff must have an employment end date at least 6 months prior and may be considered with hospital approval

Additional Information

• Position includes comprehensive orientation: one day hospital orientation plus two days unit orientation
• No specific scrub color required, but attire must be clean and professional
• Holiday coverage expected every other holiday or as department needs
• First-time travelers are not eligible; previous travel experience is required
• Candidates residing within 80 miles are considered local and subject to a local rate adjustment
