American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position in a Level 2 trauma center with high-acuity patient care and titration of critical drips.

Details

• Work in a 16-bed Surgical ICU within an acute care hospital setting, Level 2 trauma center
• Patient population includes cardiovascular, trauma, neurosurgical, vascular, ortho, ENT, and other high-acuity post-surgical cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:2, 1:1 for higher acuity patients, and 1:3 for medsurg/floor status patients
• Utilizes Cerner EMR (transitioning to Epic), GE telemetry monitors, and a variety of respiratory equipment including vents, BiPAP, and Vapotherm
• RNs are responsible for reading and documenting their own patient telemetry strips
• 12-hour shifts (07:00-19:30 or 19:00-07:30), schedule will be discussed during interview with every other weekend and holiday required
• Floating may occur to MICU or as patient observer elsewhere in the hospital
• Charge nurse present each shift and intensivist coverage 24/7

Requirements

• Active WI or Compact RN license must be active by start date
• BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required; TNCC and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU or SICU experience with high-acuity surgical populations
• Experience with titration of common critical care drips including epi, norepi, propofol, precedex, vaso, dobutamine, heparin, insulin, dopamine, neo, and milrinone
• CRRT, IABP, Impella, and ECMO experience preferred but not required
• Must provide two professional references: one supervisor and one peer or supervisor
• Returning staff must not have worked in the facility within the past 6 months, with approval required

Additional Information

• All nurses care for post-op day one heart surgery patients, with specialized 1:1 assignments for immediate post-op hearts
• Self-scheduling is available for staff; agency nurses are scheduled to unit needs
• One day of system onboarding followed by two unit orientation shifts required
• Professional, clean scrubs are required with no color restriction
• No tele/monitor techs—RNs are responsible for their own telemetry strip interpretation
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7 in the ICU
• Holiday coverage required every other holiday unless otherwise discussed
• Local candidates within 80 miles are eligible at a reduced rate
