American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit night shift position requiring at least 18 months of PCU experience and current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Details

• Position is in a hospital-based Progressive Care Unit with 32 beds
• Patient population includes CHF, dysrhythmia, chest pain, stroke, abdominal illnesses, respiratory issues, diabetes, AKI/CKD, and substance withdrawal
• Typical RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4, possibly 1:5 depending on acuity
• Works 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700), with every other weekend required
• Required to float within the region and within scope of practice, including Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, Central Division
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum 18 months of PCU RN experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience with tracheostomies, cardiac drips, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood product administration, wound care, dressing changes, and central line management required
• Epic EMR experience is required
• Must provide social security number (last 4 digits) and full date of birth for consideration
• At least one professional reference dated within one year from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge RN is required
• Must not have been a permanent employee at any AHSE facility within the past year
• Applicants residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include providing specialized care for progressive care/telemetry patients not requiring mechanical ventilation
• Support resources include CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists
• Both bedside and nurses’ station telemetry monitoring in use
• Orientation consists of hospital-wide and two departmental days
• Must wear navy scrubs
