Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg Orthopedics RN with recent ortho patient and EPIC experience for night shifts in an acute care setting.

Details

• Work in a 33-bed Ortho-Neuro Medical Surgical unit within an acute care hospital
• Primary patient population includes post-op elective ortho surgeries, neuro-surgeries, fractures, and general Med/Surg cases
• Patient ratios are typically 1:6
• Handles PCA pumps and IV fluids; no titratable drips required
• 12-hour night shifts with a schedule that includes every-other weekend
• Travelers are the first to float to other Med/Surg units as needed
• Royal blue scrubs required; scrub jackets must also be royal blue
• Uses EPIC EMR; prior EPIC experience is required

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg experience, including ortho patients and PCA pump management
• Current BLS certification from the AHA
• EPIC experience required
• Must submit an unexpired copy of driver’s license for consideration

Additional Information

• Orientation includes one day EPIC training, one day with preceptor, third day independently
• Charge nurse present 24/7 with varying patient assignments by shift
• Patient Care Techs provide support with ADLs, vitals, and some procedures; staffing varies by unit census
• Weekend shifts required per unit rotation, and holiday coverage may be required based on unit needs
• Travelers may be called off for low census based on contract specifics
• No local travelers allowed within 50 miles; must live further than 50 miles from facility
• Individuals who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have a 2-year break prior to reapplying as travelers
• Travelers may only work within the WVU system for up to one year before a mandatory 2-year break applies
