Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with a valid MD or compact license and two years of recent ER experience for night shifts.

Details

• Provide nursing care in the Emergency Department of a hospital setting
• Care for all age groups from infants to geriatrics with a wide range of diagnoses, including behavioral health and trauma cases
• Work three 12-hour night shifts per week from 19:00 to 07:30
• Every other weekend and holiday shifts are required as scheduled
• Patient ratios are typically 1:4, up to 1:5 with lower acuity cases
• Floating within the hospital and within the candidate's specialty is required, with travelers prioritized for floating
• No pre-scheduled on-call shifts are required

Requirements

• Active MD or Compact RN license required at time of application
• Minimum of 2 years recent Emergency Department RN experience required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI, and NIHSS (AHA for BLS/ACLS/PALS)
• TNCC certification is preferred
• Must provide two professional references from most recent employers: one supervisor/manager and one charge RN
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility

• Care for patients with complex needs in a fast-paced environment, including behavioral health and trauma cases
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Holiday coverage is required as assigned by the unit
• Scrub attire must be worn as per unit policy
• Candidates who have been previously employed as staff at this health system must have been gone for 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Return travelers must have been away for at least 6 months before being considered again for this system
• Extension may be granted but is typically limited to one contract extension followed by a 6-month break
