Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry unit night shift position requiring cardiac procedural expertise and an active ID or Compact RN license.

Details

• Work in an acute care hospital telemetry unit with coverage on both the 3rd floor (20 beds) and 7th floor (35 beds)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 with dedicated CNA support on both floors
• Care for cardiac post-procedural, post-open heart, TAVR, ablations, post caths, pacemakers, medical telemetry, post-stroke, CHF, sepsis, and electrolyte imbalance patients
• Night shift 7:00pm-7:00am with 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Travelers are first to float and may float to all MS, MS-Tele, and Tele units within the hospital and to sister facilities in Meridian and Nampa as needed
• EPIC charting system is used
• Two shifts of unit-specific orientation on each floor

Requirements

• Active ID or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry or cardiac post-procedural nursing experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips and document accurately
• Experience titrating Heparin and set-rate cardiac drips required
• Must submit two professional references including one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
• Copy of driver's license required
• No local candidates within a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Permanent employees must be separated for at least one year before applying for travel roles

Additional Information

• Must be comfortable floating between the 3rd and 7th floor Telemetry units and to similar units as needed
• Charge nurse is present on each shift but typically does not take a patient assignment
• Must read and interpret own telemetry strips twice per shift; remote monitor techs located on the 3rd floor
• RT support is available and manages all respiratory equipment; RNs may assist as needed
• Flexible scheduling with an expectation to help fill staffing gaps; block scheduling is not guaranteed
• May be scheduled to work holidays but not expected to work every holiday
• Dress code is any color scrubs
