Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse experienced in telemetry or PCU for a corrections oncology unit, requiring Epic charting and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a secure corrections unit PCU with oncology patients
• Split assignment between Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical-Surgical (MS) units based on staffing needs
• Patients include ODRC inmates with oncology and non-oncology diagnoses
• Nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 for PCU and 1:4-5 for MS
• Float to various oncology MS units as needed
• Day and night 12-hour shifts available; schedule may change every 4 weeks based on department needs
• Uses Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication management
• Cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and medical-surgical competencies required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Epic charting experience required
• Medical-Surgical or telemetry experience required
• Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• IV therapy skills including central and peripheral line management, starting IVs, and blood product administration

Additional Information

• Oncology experience is preferred but not required
• Care responsibilities include oncology and non-oncology diagnoses, pre/post hemodialysis care, and respiratory interventions (e.g., CPAP/BIPAP, high-flow oxygen, trach management)
• Work in a locked unit with corrections officer support and a CO to inmate ratio of 1:2
• Provide patient care for inmates undergoing active oncology treatments and for other acute and chronic conditions
• External provider support available including pharmacy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and rapid response teams
• Weekend shifts vary and are based on unit requirements
