Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Med/Surg position requiring a compact or WV RN license, recent Epic experience, and strong neuro skills.

Details

• Work in an acute care Neuro Med/Surg unit with a 20-bed capacity (14 floor beds)
• Patient population includes neurology cases, stroke, seizures, post-op spines, DBS, and various neurological disorders
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6 for floor patients
• Telemonitoring is present on the unit; RNs document verification of monitor techs’ readings in Epic
• Titration of certain drips per protocol with physician oversight; education provided if needed
• RT manages floor vents; RN vent experience is not required
• Uses Epic EMR; recent Epic experience is required
• Day shifts are 12 hours (7a-7:30p) with weekend requirements; schedules may include Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday
• Float to 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10E units as primary, with potential to float to other hospital units if needed

Requirements

• An active WV or compact RN license is required
• Minimum of 2 years’ RN experience, with strong neuro med/surg background
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required; NIHSS must be in hand at time of consideration
• Recent Epic EMR experience is required
• Proficiency and frequency with G-tubes is required
• ACLS preferred but not required

Additional Information

• Travelers are required to work into the holiday rotation as assigned
• Unit has 24/7 charge nurse coverage and nurse aids on each shift
• Dress code requires any combination of white and royal blue scrubs
• One shift of unit-specific orientation provided
• No local travelers accepted (defined as within 50 miles of the facility)
• Returning travelers must have a two-year break if previously employed by WVU Medicine
• Travelers cannot work within WVU for longer than one year consecutively and must then take a two-year break
