American Traveler is hiring an LPN for a medical surgical night shift position in a correctional facility, requiring an active Illinois LPN license and mandatory floating within the facility.

Details

• Work in a correctional facility on a medical surgical unit
• Patient population includes incarcerated individuals requiring medical and surgical care
• Scheduled for night shifts, 5x8 hours, 23:00 to 07:30
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Floating to other units and Cook County facilities within 50 miles is mandatory as needed
• Uses Cerner EMR system

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of Practical Nursing
• Current and active Illinois LPN license at time of consideration; license required if applicable
• Ability to obtain Illinois LPN license two weeks before assignment start if not already held
• Current CPR certification required
• Proof of completed pharmacology/medication administration coursework as outlined by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
• Preferred: 1 year of recent full-time clinical experience in an acute care or ambulatory care setting
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required

Additional Information

• Must be willing to float to any Cook County facility within 50 miles and to various units according to facility needs
• Team-based care model is used if floated outside primary competency area
• Maximum of 5 days requested time off, with no more than 2 consecutive days allowed; no RTO on weekends, holidays, or adjacent to holidays
• Strict compliance with onboarding requirements, including completion of lab work within 72 hours of offer acceptance
• Navy blue scrubs required
