American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical/Oncology unit with adult patient care and every other weekend shifts.

Details

• Work in a 29-bed Med/Surg/Oncology unit at a Level IV Trauma teaching hospital
• Provides care for adult medical, surgical, oncology, palliative, urology, and telemetry patients
• Patient ratios are 4-5:1 during day shifts and 5-6:1 during night shifts
• Shift schedule is 3x12 hours (11a-11p), with options for 36 or 48-hour contract weeks
• Every other weekend shifts are required
• Clinicians may float within their scope to other units as needed
• Blocked scheduling requests may be accommodated
• Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license; applicants with pending license may be considered
• Minimum 2 years of recent relevant RN experience
• Current BLS certification required
• ONCC/ONS certification required
• Telemetry experience required
• Skills in central line draws, ports, blood administration, PCA pumps, bone marrow aspiration assist, and pleurx chest tubes necessary
• Chemotherapy administration experience preferred
• Ability to operate within a 100-mile radius rule (75-99 miles may be approved by facility)
• Flu vaccine required during flu season unless medically exempt

• Responsibilities include caring for cancer patients, providing palliative support, and educating families about oncology processes
• Team provides support for both medical-surgical and oncology patients, including urology and telemetry cases
• Scrub attire is royal blue or white for RNs
• First-time travelers considered if meeting qualifications
• Free parking is provided for travelers
• Holiday request for time off is limited to one of the three major holidays
• Previous perm employees must wait two years after last permanent shift before eligibility for travel positions
