American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg and Oncology unit position, requiring a WV or compact RN license and the ability to work night shifts with every other weekend.

Details

• Work on a Medical Surgical/Oncology unit in a hospital setting
• 29-bed adult unit caring for medical, surgical, oncology, urology, palliative, and telemetry patients
• Patient ratios are 4-5:1 during days and 5-6:1 at night
• Shift is 3x12 hours, 7:00pm-7:00am, with every other weekend required
• Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
• Blocked schedule requests may be considered
• Uses Cerner EMR system
• Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital
• Both 36 or 48-hour contract options available

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license; pending license accepted for consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS certification required
• ONCC/ONS certification required
• Experience with telemetry, central line draws, port management, blood administration, PCA pumps, bone marrow aspiration assist, and pleurx chest tubes required
• Chemotherapy administration experience preferred, but strong candidates without oncology experience will be considered
• Must be able to provide proof of flu vaccination if assignment is between October 1 and March 31 unless medically exempt

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include caring for adult patients with cancer, providing palliative care, and educating families on oncological processes
• Lab draws and blood product administration, as well as assisting with bone marrow aspirations and managing drains and chest tubes, are part of the role
• Royal blue or white scrubs required
• Free parking available for travelers
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Perm staff must wait at least 2 years after last worked shift before being eligible to return as a traveler
• Candidates must reside at least 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-99 miles may be considered for approval
• Holiday time off requests are limited to one of the three major holidays
