American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical/Oncology position on a busy adult unit, requiring BLS and ONCC/ONS certification.

Details

• Work on a 29-bed adult Medical Surgical/Oncology unit
• Cares for adult medical, surgical, oncology, palliative, urology, and telemetry patients
• Typical patient ratios are 4-5:1 during days and 5-6:1 at night
• Shifts available are 5x8s, either 3p-11p or 11a-11p, with weekdays and every other weekend required
• Clinicians may float within their scope of practice to meet facility needs
• Uses Cerner for charting
• Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital setting
• Royal blue and white scrubs required
• Parking is free for travelers

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required (pending license accepted for consideration)
• Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• Certifications required: BLS, ONCC/ONS
• Telemetry experience and skills in central line draws, ports, blood administration, PCA pumps, bone marrow aspiration assistance, and pleurx chest tubes required
• Chemotherapy administration experience preferred
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Perm employees must wait 2 years after last worked date before returning as a traveler
• Flu vaccination required during flu season unless documented medical allergy

• Responsibilities include providing nursing care for adult patients with medical, surgical, and oncological needs, palliative care, and family education about the oncological process
• Teamwork emphasized in a teaching hospital environment
• Must work every other weekend and may request time off for only one of the three major holidays
• Blocked scheduling requests may be accommodated
• Candidates residing 100 miles or more from facility are eligible; 75-99 miles may be considered with approval
• First-time travelers may be considered
• No COVID-19 vaccination required for this assignment
