Description

American Traveler is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for 12-hour night shifts in a long-term care facility, requiring current Montana LPN license and BLS certification through AHA.

Details

• Work in a long-term care unit with a typical census below 40 residents
• Patient population includes convalescent care, post-stroke, CHF, hospice, respite care, and insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus
• Shift schedule is 12-hour nights
• One nurse scheduled at night with three CNAs
• Medication administration is minimal on nights, with most residents not receiving meds after 22:00
• Blood sugar checks are performed in the morning for diabetic patients
• No vents or tracheostomies in use
• Charting is completed in PointClickCare (PCC)
• Medication dispensing is via medication cart loaded by nurse

Requirements

• Current Montana LPN license required if applicable
• Active BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience is required
• Experience with long-term care patient types preferred but not required
• Ability to work assigned night shifts and every other weekend

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome for this position
• Charge nurse carries a full patient load
• Support provided by three CNAs at night, director of nursing, hospitalist and allied health professionals during the day
• Two days of precepted floor orientation followed by independent work
• Expectation to work 1-2 holidays per contract
• Time-off of up to 7 days may be approved with director approval; additional days and holidays require further approval
• Professional scrubs of any color are permitted
• Free onsite parking is available
• Artificial nails not permitted; natural nails must be no longer than 1/4 inch
