Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring a NY RN license, BLS, ACLS, and over 5 years of experience.

Details

• Position is based in a large acute care teaching hospital with level 2 trauma designation
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, including weekends as necessary
• Floats to all Med/Surg floors, ED hold, and Observation Unit (Legacy Annex)
• Care includes management of chest tubes, CPAP/BiPap, trach care, drains, feeding tubes, epidural and PCA pumps, line management, PICC and central lines, port-a-cath access/care, and wound vacs
• Responsibilities include tele interpretation and administration of blood/blood products, use of cooling and warming blankets
• Cerner EMR is used

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 5 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
• Demonstrated competency in advanced nursing skills including line management, ventilator support, and tele interpretation
• Two professional nursing references from current managers required
• Local candidates allowed within a 60-mile radius at a reduced rate

• Experience with complex medical devices and advanced nursing procedures is expected
• Team-oriented environment with regular collaboration across different units
• Completion of facility-specific online education modules prior to start is required
• Prior employment at the health system may require additional eligibility review
• Holiday and weekend coverage may be required based on staffing needs
