American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care/Telemetry Unit night shift position, requiring a GA or compact RN license, with strong critical care skills and holiday commitment.

Details

• Position is in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a step-down ICU patient population
• Patient diagnoses include respiratory failure, renal failure, sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, hypertension, stroke, pneumonia, cancer, ARDS, and overdoses
• Unit has 10 beds and maintains a census of 10 patients with an RN-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM with a 6-week rotating schedule
• Weekend coverage requires 5-6 weekend shifts per 12 shifts on a 6-week schedule
• No on-call requirements
• Holiday work expected for 75% of major holidays
• Required to float to other PCU units as needed, within and below scope
• Utilizes Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years of PCU RN experience required
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
• Must pass a Basic Cardiac Rhythm EKG competency exam
• Experience with trach care, chest tubes, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin and heparin drips, and titration to heart rate required
• Ability to manage invasive lines including arterial lines, central venous lines, pulse oximetry, and intracranial pressure monitoring
• Proficiency in assisting with bedside procedures such as chest tube and tracheostomy placement required
• Prior Epic EMR experience preferred
• First-time travelers are accepted

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include monitoring and managing step-down ICU patients and supporting bedside procedures
• Support staff includes CNAs, unit secretaries, resource nurses, PICC team, RT and hospitalist coverage 24/7, and a central telemetry monitoring unit
• One day of hospital orientation and two days of departmental orientation provided
• Required to wear navy scrubs while on duty
