Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Telemetry position requiring a GA or compact RN license and strong PCU clinical skills.

Details

• Hospital-based PCU/step-down unit with 10 beds
• Patient population includes step-down ICU patients with diagnoses such as respiratory failure, sepsis, DKA, stroke, ARDS, and overdoses
• RN patient ratios are 1:3-4
• 12-hour night shifts from 7p-7a, on a 6-week rotating schedule
• Requires 5-6 weekend shifts per 12-shift cycle
• No on-call or call back duties
• Floating required to other PCU units as needed
• Central Telemetry Unit for monitoring
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Unit equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Belmont Rapid Infuser, PCA pain management, and VS3 vital sign monitors

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU RN experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must pass EKG competency exam
• Experience with trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, insulin and heparin drips, and management of arterial and central venous lines
• Professional reference within the last year from a supervisor-level role

Additional Information

• Assist with bedside procedures such as chest tube placement, tracheostomy, and PEG tube placement
• Support staff includes CNAs, unit secretaries, discharge nurses, and a PICC team
• 24/7 access to RT, hospitalist, and intensivist support
• 1 day facility orientation plus 2 days departmental orientation provided
• Expected to work 75% of major holidays, including shifts on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Navy scrubs required
