American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) telemetry position requiring a GA or compact RN license and advanced cardiac certifications.

Details

• Position is in a large teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma Designation
• Work in a 10-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a typical patient census of 10
• Patients are step-down ICU, including respiratory failure, renal failure, sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, stroke, pneumonia, cancer, ARDS, and overdose cases
• RN-to-patient ratio is 1:3-4 with CNA support per shift
• Responsibilities include care for chronic home ventilator patients and post-ICU/ER step-downs
• Equipment used includes Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispenser, Phillips monitors, Belmont Rapid Infuser, TABLO, and SCD devices
• 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with six weekend shifts every six weeks
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required between other PCU units within and below scope

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of PCU RN experience required
• Certifications required: NIHSS, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Must pass a basic cardiac rhythm (EKG) competency exam during onboarding
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, insulin and heparin drips, glucommander, and invasive line monitoring required

Additional Information

• Holiday coverage required for 75% of all holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Orientation includes one day for facility education and two days departmental orientation

• Support staff includes CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurse, PICC team, resource nurses, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, intensivist, and Central Telemetry Unit
• Scrub color requirement is navy for RNs
