American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Telemetry position requiring at least 2 years of PCU experience and active GA or compact state licensure.

Details

• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (step-down ICU) within a large teaching hospital with Level 1 trauma designation
• 10-bed unit with a consistent census of 10 patients
• Patient population includes step-down ICU and ER admissions with conditions such as respiratory failure, sepsis, renal failure, GI bleed, DKA, and stroke
• RN-to-patient ratios are 1:3-4
• 12-hour day shifts from 7a-7p, working 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Expected to float between other PCU units as needed and within/below scope of practice
• No on-call or call back requirements
• Epic is used for EMR documentation
• Equipment includes Alaris pumps, Pyxis, Phillips monitors, VS3 vital sign monitors, Belmont Rapid Infuser, and TABLO
• Central Telemetry Unit utilized for telemetry monitoring

Requirements

• Active GA or compact state RN license required
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
• At least 2 years of recent PCU RN experience required
• Ability to pass a Basic Cardiac Rhythm (EKG) competency exam
• Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, insulin and heparin drips, and invasive line monitoring
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• CCRN certification preferred but not required
• First-time travelers will be considered

Additional Information

• Care for a high-acuity patient population, including those on chronic home ventilators and post-ICU step-downs
• RN may assist in bedside procedures such as chest tube and tracheostomy placement
• Support includes CNAs, unit secretary (7a-11p), 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Phlebotomy is lab collect; nurses drawn from CVLs
• PICC team available for central line access
• Central Telemetry monitoring support
• One-day general orientation and two-day departmental orientation provided
• Scrub color for RNs is navy
• Free parking available on campus; paid parking decks optional
• Expected to work at least 75% of holidays with coverage for major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Manager approval required for time-off requests
