Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department day shift position requiring a GA or compact state RN license and at least two years of ED experience.

Details

• Work in a large, busy Emergency Department with 61+ beds in a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital
• Patient population includes trauma, chest pain, stroke, diabetes, abdominal pain, motor vehicle collisions, hypertension, stabbings, and mental health cases
• Typical RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4, depending on assigned zone
• EMR system used is Epic
• 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
• Holiday coverage is required for one major holiday in each block (Thanksgiving/Day after, 12/24 or 12/25, 12/31 or 1/1)
• No floating outside the Emergency Department
• No on-call or call back responsibilities

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years recent Emergency Department RN experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam (BCR required)
• Experience with drips such as Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, and Levophed
• Epic EMR experience required or willingness to learn
• First-time travelers accepted

Additional Information

• Perform emergency nursing care in a high-acuity setting including trauma and cardiac emergencies
• Central telemetry monitoring is available in the ER
• Support staff includes unit secretary, CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, respiratory therapist, and a 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist presence
• Use of Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, VS3 and portable vital sign monitors, PCA pain management, bladder scanners, portable oxygen system, and rapid infuser equipment
• Orientation consists of 1 day general orientation and 2 days departmental training
• RN scrub color is navy
