American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Medical ICU position requiring MI RN licensure and ICU experience, with opportunities for nurses new to travel.

Details

• Work in a Medical ICU (MICU) with a mix of ICU, PCU, and general med/transfer patients
• Patient diagnostic mix includes COPD, encephalopathy, drug overdose, DKA, AKI, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, heart failure, and A-fib
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 for high acuity and specialized procedures to 1:4 for PCU and general med/transfer status, with 2:1 for vented patients
• Special procedures performed include CRRT, hemodialysis, A-line placement, CVC/trach/chest tube placement
• Uses equipment such as cooling machines, Bair Huggers, and CRRT
• Assigned 36 or 48 hour work weeks, with both day shift and possible shift flexibility
• Weekend work required every other weekend
• Floating required to ICU and Med Surg units as needed, with med-surg nurse-to-patient ratios of approximately 5-7:1

Requirements

• Active Michigan RN license required for consideration
• Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
• Minimum of 1 year ICU nursing experience required
• Proficiency in interpreting and managing dysrhythmias, multi-system organ failure, and IV insulin protocols
• Experience with chronic and acute renal failure management including CVVHD/CRRT
• Ability to perform arterial line, central/PICC line management, start IVs, and administer/titrate IV sedation, cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Competence in ventilator care, BiPAP/CPAP assistance, and ABG interpretation

• Responsible for complex patient management including critical care interventions and emergency responses
• Work closely within a collaborative team with Bronson MICU RNs and medical staff
• Exposure to a range of patient acuity levels including advanced ventilator support and high-flow therapies
