American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Stepdown unit requiring an active IL RN license and expertise with ventilators, trachs, and G tubes.

Details

• Work in a unique 39-bed Pediatric Stepdown inpatient unit caring for children with chronic illnesses
• Patient ages range from 2 weeks to 18 years old, with 50-60% relying on technology such as ventilators, tracheostomies, and G tubes
• Patient ratios are 1:3-4, and experience with 1:4 ratios is required
• Day shifts available (4x12 hours, 7:00 to 19:00), with every other weekend scheduled
• Clinicians may float within scope to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling can be accommodated
• Uses Meditech EMR system; prior Meditech experience required

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand required for consideration (IL does not accept compact RN licenses)
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications required
• Experience caring for pediatric patients with chronic illness, technology dependence, and trach/vent/G tube needs
• Meditech charting experience required
• Experience with patient ratios of 1:4 required
• Flu vaccination required (medical and religious exemptions accepted)
• Pending IL RN licenses are accepted if active by start

Additional Information

• The unit serves all pediatric specialties and does not provide care for patients on drips, surgical, or transitional patients
• Team cares for children with chronic ventilator needs and varying medical complexities
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Scrub attire must be neat and clean; pediatric-themed scrubs are encouraged
• Free parking available in designated lots, shared with the public due to location in a public park
• Requested time off must be approved and included in the contract before the start date
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
