Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Stepdown position in a unique inpatient acute care unit requiring Illinois licensure and pediatric technology dependence expertise.

Details

• Work in a pediatric stepdown acute care unit with 39 beds covering all specialties
• Patient ages range from 2 weeks to 18 years with 50-60% requiring technology dependence
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:3-4
• Ventilator, tracheostomy, and G tube care required
• No drips, surgical, or transitional patients
• Use of Meditech EMR is required
• Day shifts available, typically 4x12 hours from 7:00 to 19:00
• Every other weekend shifts are required
• Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration; compact licenses not accepted
• BCLS and PALS certifications are required
• A minimum of 2 years recent pediatric nursing experience is required
• Experience with 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratios in similar settings is required
• Vents, trach, and G tube care experience required
• Meditech charting experience required
• Flu vaccine required with medical and religious exemptions accepted

Additional Information

• Care for pediatric patients with chronic illness and technology dependence, including chronic ventilator use
• No care for patients on drips, surgical, or transitional status
• Scrub attire should be neat and clean; pediatric-themed attire encouraged
• Free parking available in shared hospital lots
• Block scheduling may be accommodated
• Approved RTO must be included in contract prior to start; no RTO additions afterward
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this assignment
